Round four of The Original Spice Girls of History includes the Middle Ages most badass queen. Eleanor of Aquitaine, who apparently rode bare-breasted to Damascus, had affairs and ditched her first husband, the boring King of France, for her second, the rough and tumble Henry II of England. This “Lioness of Winter” gave birth to ten children, including the heroic Richard the Lionheart and the notorious King John, made famous as a baddie in the Robin Hood tales. As queen in the fabled Courts of Love and known as much for her fashion and culture as her many scandals, Eleanor was one posh and spicy woman.
